Taking payments with just your phone using Tap to Pay

What is Tap to Pay? #

Tap to Pay lets you take in-person payments using only your phone. It’s built into your Sync™ app, so you can accept debit and credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments in only a few simple steps. Just present your phone to your customer and they can tap it with their payment card or mobile wallet like they would a card reader.

Tap to Pay means that everything you need to make a sale is already in your pocket. You can get set up in a few steps, and there’s no need to buy or manage new card readers.

Is there an additional fee? #

There is an additional transaction fee for Tap to Pay transactions. This fee is due to additional processing fees for Tap to Pay transactions that unfortunately we can’t avoid.

Can I still use other payment methods? #

Yes. Once you’ve set up Tap to Pay you can still use other payment methods available with Sync™ such as a card reader or payment links.

Tap to Pay on iPhone #

If you have an iPhone, you will need an iPhone XS or above running iOS 16.4 or later to use Tap to Pay on iPhone. Tap to Pay is not available on iPads.

There are no transaction limits with Tap to Pay on iPhone – for transactions over the contactless limit, the customer will be asked to enter their PIN via the iPhone.

Tap to Pay on Android #

If you have an Android phone, You must have operating system Android 11 or higher for Tap to Pay to work.

There are no transaction limits with Tap to Pay on Android – for transactions over the contactless limit, the customer will be asked to enter their PIN via the Android device.
